US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that there is a “good chance” the United States and the European Union will reach a trade agreement.
Speaking at the start of a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at his golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland, Trump said that a few key issues still needed to be resolved.
“We’ve got three or four main sticking points,” Trump said, according to Reuters. “The main one is fairness especially around cars and agriculture.”
Trump has often raised concerns about EU trade policies that he says limit American exports. Talks between US and EU officials have been ongoing as both sides try to avoid higher tariffs.
