Prince Harry was unable to be contacted for “two days or so” as he made a secret trip after his landmark visit to Angola.
The Duke of Sussex travelled to the southern African nation earlier this month to raise awareness of efforts to rid the country of landmines for The Halo Trust charity.
Harry made headlines as he followed in his late mother Princess Diana’s footsteps, walking a minefield and teaching local children about the dangers of landmines.
However, it has now believed that the Duke went off grid following the trip as he took a detour into the neighbouring country of Botswana.

While there, Harry is thought to have spent time with documentary makers Tania ‘TJ’ Jenkins and Mike Holding – who he had once called his “second family”.
Source explained: “This time he took some more time and space, and made the trip into a week-long visit to reconnect with old friends and get some headspace away from his phone and emails.
“He went off comms for two days or so,” they added.
The Duke’s solo visits normally only take him away from Meghan and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a couple of days at a time.

However, his Angola trip and Botswana detour extended his stay away to a full week.
“It was a good moment for Harry to take some time away from everything, enjoying total peace of mind and being somewhere so remote that he couldn’t even get emails or texts or calls,” the source told the Daily Mail.
Jenkins and Holding, Harry’s “beloved second family,” own AfriScreen, an award-winning nature documentary production company behind the legendary BBC series, Planet Earth.
Harry’s friendship with the couple is understood to have began in his youth, when he began visiting Botswana.

“I’ve got a second family out there. A group of friends that literally brought me up,” Harry said of Jenkin and Holding at the time, according to The Telegraph.
The couple also briefly featured in the first episode of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary.
While in Angola, Harry spoke emotionally about his deep connection to the work of The Halo Trust in ridding the nation of landmines.
“As a father to young children, it breaks my heart to see innocent children still living and playing next to minefields,” Harry said after participating in a landmine safety education session in the remote village of Mawano.

“All of us have a duty to protect children and future generations from the harms of war, both present and past,” he added.
During the safety session, Prince Harry repeated instructions in Portuguese, teaching local children how to recognise and avoid landmines.
The land nearby was once an active minefield that the Duke himself walked in 2013, but has since been transformed through years of dedicated clearance by Angolan men and women trained by The Halo Trust.
Harry’s trip also coincided with the Angolan government’s announcement of a new three-year commitment to support landmine clearance, reinforcing its position as Halo’s largest single donor in Angola.
