“I love you, Kate!” shouted a fan as the Princess of Wales stepped onto the court following the championship match.
The 43-year-old royal responded with laughter to the unexpected outburst, which broke the formal silence of the trophy ceremony.
Princess Kate had taken to Centre Court in her capacity as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to award prizes to Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.

The Princess presented the runner-up trophy to Alcaraz, who offered a quick bow as he approached her. The Spanish player had previously received trophies from Princess Kate after winning Wimbledon in both 2023 and 2024.
Winner Sinner engaged in a brief conversation with the Princess as she handed him his first Wimbledon championship trophy. The Italian’s victory marked a changing of the guard at the All England Club.
Princess Kate’s trophy presentation duties form part of her responsibilities as patron of the prestigious tennis club, a role she inherited from Queen Elizabeth in 2016.

Their youngest son, Prince Louis, who turned seven in April, did not attend the outing.

The Princess presented trophies to champion Iga Swiatek of Poland and runner-up Amanda Anisimova of the United States, maintaining the royal tradition at the tournament. Wimbledon has been a fixture on Princess Kate’s summer schedule, with her attending nearly every year since her 2011 marriage to Prince William.
