Queen Camilla shares unseen picture of new family member as royal issues important advice

Queen Camilla has shared an adorable new picture of her rescue puppy Moley as part of her trip to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home on Monday.

Moley, a Jack Russell Terrier, was adopted by the Queen, who previously re-homed two other dogs in May this year.

In a post shared through the Royal Family’s official social channels, Camilla could be seen cradling the beige and black Moley.

The image was captured earlier in July, in the garden at Raymill, Her Majesty’s private house in Wiltshire, by photographer Chris Jackson.

Camilla could be seen beaming in the snap as her new puppy looked inquisitively at the camera, ears alert.

The image was captioned with: “It was a fantastic afternoon at @Battersea – we are so grateful for all that you do!”

“Whilst Moley was keeping cool at home, he wishes he could have been reunited with some of his old friends,” it added sweetly.

The Queen had previously adopted two Jack Russell Terriers from Battersea, where she serves as Patron.

She took in Beth in August 2011 and Bluebell in September 2012.

However, Camilla was said to be left devastated after Beth passed away in 2024.

Moley’s adoption was announced in May of this year ahead of the Queen’s visit to the Dog Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said at the tine: “Meet mischievous Moley, The Queen’s new much-loved canine companion who was recently adopted from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home where Her Majesty is Patron.

Alongside the caption on Monday’s post was important advice on how to keep pets cool in the summer heat.

They advised to: “Plan dog walks for cooler hours of the day and take regular breaks in the shade.

“Make sure your furry friends have plenty of water available to keep hydrated.

“Protect paws from hot surfaces by sticking to grassy or shaded areas.

“Find less strenuous ways to keep your pup entertained, such as hiding frozen treats in toys.

“Never leave your dog in a hot car, and avoid travelling by car on a warm day,” they concluded.

Last November, King Charles and Queen Camilla revealed that their beloved dog, Beth, had sadly died.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties, or curled up by the fire.”

Beth was honoured was an inscription on the path at Chelsea’s Dog Garden, alongside the King’s dog, Snuff.
