Starting today, no heavy vehicle allowed on bridge over Vallabhipur Branch Canal on Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar highway | Ahmedabad News

The Ahmedabad Collectorate has prohibited heavy vehicles from using the bridge over Vallabhipur Branch Canal on Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar State Highway for 90 days, starting Monday midnight.

The prohibitory order was issued following a communication from Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL), stating that the bridge is in a “critical condition”, and that it should be closed for heavy vehicles and alternate traffic arrangements be made till a new bridge is built.

The Resident Additional Collector of Ahmedabad, B R Sagar, issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

The notification also issued alternate traffic diversions for heavy vehicles from Bagodara-Fedra to Dhandhuka, from Limbdi to Fedra-Ahmedabad, from Paliyad-Ranpur to Ahmedabad-Vataman, and from Vallabhipur-Barwala to Ahmedabad-Vataman.

Violation of the notification will be liable for punishment under the provisions of Gujarat Police Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
