Maud Angelica Behn, the eldest daughter of Princess Martha Louise, has become the first member of the Norwegian royal family to publicly come out as queer.
The 22-year-old granddaughter of King Harald V announced she is bisexual on Instagram following her attendance at Oslo Pride over the weekend.
Maud, the daughter of Princess Martha Louise and her late first husband Ari Behn, shared the news through a series of photographs on social media.
She attended the Pride parade wearing colours that mirrored both the rainbow Pride flag and the bisexual flag, including fuchsia and purple.

In her Instagram post, Maud shared multiple photographs from the Pride event and wrote: “Happy Pride from a bisexual person! This year’s Pride was absolutely amazing and there was so much love.”
The images showed her dressed in various colours reflecting the rainbow Pride flag, with particular emphasis on fuchsia and purple shades that mirror the bisexual flag.
One photograph captured by her mother showed Maud holding a bisexual flag fan alongside a Pride flag.
The 22-year-old’s public declaration came after she attended Oslo’s Pride Parade on Saturday, making her announcement to coincide with the celebration.

Princess Martha Louise attended Norway’s largest LGBTIQ+ festival alongside her daughter and her second husband, American shaman Durek Verrett.
The princess posted a heartfelt message on social media supporting her daughter’s announcement.
“Love is never wrong. This Pride Month, I want to honour the courage it takes to live your truth,” Martha Louise wrote on Instagram, sharing photos and videos from the parade.
The royal emphasised that love “doesn’t ask for permission or explanation” and described the beauty of “daring to love who you love, even when the world tells you to be quiet, to shrink, or to hide.”

Martha Louise’s Instagram message continued with strong words of support for the LGBTIQ+ community. “But love isn’t meant to be hidden. It’s meant to be celebrated, lived and shared in all its wonderful forms,” she wrote.
The princess addressed those still struggling with their identity, stating: “To everyone out there still trying to find the words or the courage: You are seen, you are loved, and you never have to apologise for who you are.”
She concluded her message by emphasising that Pride represents both identity and freedom, describing it as “the bravery to be fully yourself in a world that often doesn’t make that easy.”,
Princess Martha decided to give up royal duties, but kept her title, after marrying Verrett to “create a clearer dividing line” between her roles.

Accordingly, Maud does not hold any royal titles.
One of Princess Martha Louise’s other daughters, 19-year-old Leah Isadora Behn, previously made headlines after she rebuked a song dedicated to her.
Norwegian rapper Kevin Lauren, 36, named a song after her that featured the lyrics: “Baby you’re my dream I think I’m in love, f*** it you’re as pretty as Princess Leah Behn.”
Speaking on the 370 podcast, Leah slammed the rapper’s move as: “The most disgusting thing anyone has done with my name.”
Leah works as a social media influencer and model and, like her older sister, does not have a royal title.
