Health Minister Ma. Subramanian on Saturday inaugurated additional infrastructure facilities at the Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital and also carried out a surprise inspection at the Government Tuberculosis Hospital at Thoppur in Madurai district.
The Minister inaugurated a new CT Scan facility established at a cost of ₹2.20 crore and a digital X-ray at a cost of ₹61.20 lakh at the Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital. He also inaugurated a fluoroscopy facility at the hospital.
He said that there was already a CT Scan facility and digital x-ray at the government hospital. However, considering the influx of patients and the requirement, additional infrastructure was established at the hospital. Primary Health Centres and Urban Health and Wellness Centres were also being established across the district, he said.
Over 20 newly constructed centres were inaugurated while foundation for more than 20 such centres was being laid in various places in Dindigul, Athoor, Natham, Nilakottai, Vedasandur, Palani and Oddanchatram, he said.
He said that the cost of the newly constructed buildings was around ₹10 crore and the foundation was laid for new buildings to be constructed at a total cost of ₹11 crore. Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital was functioning effectively with well qualified doctors and nurses and steps were being taken to add more infrastructure, he said.
He said that the grievances of the people were looked into and appropriate actions were being taken based on their complaints. Surprise inspections were also being carried out, he said, adding that he had conducted a surprise inspection at the Government Tuberculosis Hospital at Thoppur in Madurai. He said that the government hospital was functioning effectively.
Minister for Rural Development I. Periyasamy, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R. Sakkarapani, Dindigul MP R. Sachithanantham, Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan, Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital Dean R. Suganthy Rajakumari and other officials were present at the event held in Dindigul.
