Paloma Faith branded ‘selfish’ for pro-Palestine comments as she admits she wouldn’t visit region: ‘Never been!’

Singer Paloma Faith has been branded “selfish” and a “moron” for remarks she made during a pro‑Palestine protest in London.

Speaking to Middle East Eye, the singer spoke passionately about her support for Palestine, but when asked if she had ever visited the region, she admitted, “I’ve never been to Palestine,” adding sheepishly when asked if she would go: “well, not right now”.

The comments quickly sparked a wave of backlash online, with many accusing the star of “jumping on the lefty bandwagon” and not truly caring about Palestinian lives.

One person said: “Let’s hope people think for themselves rather than listen to this – never ceases to amaze me when ‘celebrities’ think it’s okay to use their ‘platform’ to peddle their own views and influence, very often young people who hero worship them and who blindly follow.”

British singer and songwriter Paloma Faith urged the UK government and fellow artists to take stronger, meaningful action in response to the crisis in Gaza during a pro-Palestine protest in London. Speaking to Middle East Eye, she emphasised the moral responsibility of those with platforms to stand up against injustice, especially when governments fall short. She highlighted the historical role of musicians in protest movements and expressed disappointment that many today shy away from activism due to fear of financial loss or backlash.

Another added: “She’s a total selfish b***h. She gives zero fucks about Palestine or Palestinians. Or anyone else. Even her children. She just sees them as a burden.”

A third commented: “She’s a total moron! Happy to preach to others from her champagne bubble.”

“She’s another Greta Thunberg type… jumping on the next lefty bandwagon,” another said.

A fifth chimed in: “We need to stop asking celebrities what they think about things they have no qualification to answer.”

And a sixth said: “How did Paloma miss Gazans cheering the broken bodies of young girls from a concert being paraded in the street on Oct. 7? Never again is now.”

In the interview, the 43-year-old also went on to claim that people are weaponising the Holocaust to silence criticism of Israel.

“Everyone’s worried about losing money, losing income, offending people because unfortunately, the Holocaust has now been weaponised,” she said.

“People believe that if you don’t believe in violence, that makes you an antisemitic person, not acknowledging the fact that people of Palestine are Semitic but…”

She went on to justify her position by invoking “never again” and suggesting she would have acted similarly for Jewish people during the Second World War.

“If this was World War Two and I was in a time machine, I’d be doing the same thing for the Jewish community as I’m doing now, because never again means never again,” she argued.

Elsewhere in the interview, she spoke passionately about why she felt “compelled” to support Palestine, saying: “I’m here because I’ve got a heart and I’ve got children and I just feel compelled to use my platform to highlight some of the things that are being ignored by our UK Government.”

She also called for “action” from the UK Government, telling Middle East Eye: “Words are futile. Actions mean something. And you can’t just condemn something and say how it’s terrible and not do your bit to help for peace.”

Faith has long been a vocal supporter of Palestine, making regular appearances at protests and openly stating that she is prepared to risk her career to stand up for Gaza.
