Milgrim, Lischinsky remembered for promoting peace
We’re learning more about the victims of Wednesday night’s shooting. Yaron Lischinsky had grown up in the German state of Bavaria, Volker Beck, a former federal politician in Germany, told Reuters.
“We remember him as an open-minded, intelligent and deeply committed person whose interest in German-Israeli relations and ways to achieve peaceful coexistence in the Middle East brightened the environment around him,” said Beck, who now leads the German-Israeli Society.
How long Lischinsky was in Germany was not immediately clear. Lischinsky attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the school said in a social media post, and graduated from the international relations and Asian studies program in 2021.
Tech2Peace, an advocacy group training young Palestinians and Israelis and promoting dialogue between them, said Sarah Milgrim was an active volunteer who “brought people together with empathy and purpose.”
“Her dedication to building a better future was evident in everything she did,” the group said. “Her voice and spirit will be profoundly missed.”
A LinkedIn profile matching the image of Milgrim provided by Israel’s foreign ministry indicated she had obtained a master’s degree in international affairs from American University in Washington, D.C.
