2 burglars in women’s attire break into Pune’s Hadapsar firm, arrested | Pune News


The Pune city police on Friday arrested two men who allegedly dressed up as women to commit theft at a private company in Hadapsar.

The accused have been identified as Aman Azim Shaikh, 24, and Musa Abu Shaikh, 24, both residents of Ramtekdi in Hadapsar, the police said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the police, a theft of copper plates and other items worth Rs 2.19 lakh was reported at the HERCO Transformers Limited Company at the Ramtekdi Industrial Estate in Hadapsar early on August 26.

CCTV footage revealed that two women, having their faces covered with masks, broke into the HERCO Company by tampering with the windows and committed theft of copper plates and other materials from the inventory room between 1.43 am and 3 am on August 26.

Police said the video clip showed one suspect wearing a gown and the other a salwar kameez, but they were wearing male sandals.

A First Information Report (FIR) in the case was lodged at the Wanavdi police station under sections 305, 331 (3), 331 (4), 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Further investigation confirmed the involvement of two history sheeters in the theft, which led to the arrests of the two men.

The police recovered all stolen materials from their possession.

Senior police inspector Satyajit Admane said the accused committed the theft by wearing female attire to mislead investigators.
